I was uploading some new pictures for the blog and realized my last few weeks of quotes are not posted. Oops. I will repost to catch up. The reason for this post is to encourage lots of thank yous to the volunteers at all our events. I just found out there was a volunteer setting up at a bike race our team attended this weekend who was killed in a freak accident. He was setting up and high winds blew a high voltage pole over and it struck him. What sad news. These wonderful volunteers give so much to help events run smoothly. So PLEASE next time you race thank as many volunteers as you can. This past October in Kona I made it a point to thank every volunteer who helped me from getting my clothes out of my bags, puting sunscreen on, taking my bike, giving me drinks and sponges and helping after I crossed the finish line. Their efforts gave me energy out there. And they get energized when you thank them and then they cheer harder!!! It's awesome. Again, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE thank the volunteers. We couldn't race without them. Happy training. Happy Easter.

Happy March. Where did February go?!!! I just posted a picture of our son over the weekend with a rainbow. Perfect for this month. Only 6 days until the marathon. Getting a little excited but feel out of shape. That sounds silly but the last race I did was Ironman World Championships in October. 140.6 vs 26.2. But I already know this race is going to be a huge challenge and I am expecting it to be harder than the marathon at the end of the Ironman. The last time I did an open marathon was 10 years ago. I feel so unprepared. Nutrition??? How do you fuel??? I guess I will just wing it and see what happens. Anyway, kudos to all the runners of the world. What a hard sport. Can't wait and will post to let you know how the day goes.

OK. Quote of the week time.

So our son Started preschool last November. Rocky start. But now he's doing great and really seems to love it. All smiles. And then... GERMS!!! Cold after cold after cold. They haven't been too bad until last week. First ear infection and antibiotics. Then I think I'm not going to get it. It's just for kids. Oops. Friday it hit me like a ton of bricks. I haven't had a cold like this in years. My body hurts so bad not from the cold but from the violent coughing. My ab workout doesn't touch what a great cough can do. I would almost recommend it for a new core workout!!! Hoping it's on the down swing. Napa marathon is a month away and I need some more good long training days. So here's the quote of the week to keep thing on track.

"The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen."

We had a beautiful weekend here in northern California. Took advantage of a break in the rain to get in some great training and some much needed outside family time. Riding bikes, playing soccer, zoo, park. And that was all today. We spent the afternoon yesterday at a local bike race our team " Bicycles Plus" out of Folsom put on. It was an early crit race to get the season started. They did a great job running it and had a great turn out. The awesome weather definately played a role in it. If anyones looking for a great crit check out the next one scheduled for May. Thought I'd start February out with a little something to help keep those New Years resolutions going!!!

What have you done that's made a difference?

Have a wonderful week.

Greater Sacramento area has had crazy storms this week. High winds, lots of rain and some flooding. Needless to say, a lot of time has been spent on the trainer and the treadmill. Funny thing is I am enjoying it. Catching up on DVR shows and working on foot speed. All good things!!! So I thought the quote this week is perfect for the situation.

"What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity? Our attitude toward it. Every opportunity has a difficulty, and every difficulty has an opportunity."

Sported my new trakkers visor on my run yesterday. Love them. I think it made me run faster. The bright green and black stand out. I had a biker ask me what trakkkers was. Great marketing!!!
